In early April, an officer from the Oak Grove Missouri Animal Shelter in the USA was walking through a park when he spotted some unusual movement in front of the public toilets.
An abandoned cardboard box was sitting in front of the park's public toilets. Suddenly, the box began to move.
The officer immediately reported the box to the animal shelter.
Calling for backup
When Officer Emily Hart went to see what was inside the box, her heart skipped a beat. There were three tiny black and tabby kittens, all meowing for help. Their cries tugged at Emily's heartstrings. The kittens were all trembling with fear.
Emily took the kittens and brought them to the shelter for a check-up. The kittens were barely 6 weeks old, dehydrated, and had a fever. One of them had a head injury.
Getting the care they needed
The poor kittens should never have been separated from their mother. The rescuers looked for any information about who might have abandoned the little ones, but to no avail. Fortunately, they were found just in time. Thanks to the proper care and attention from the rescue team, the kittens gradually regained their strength.
The rescuers would like to remind everyone that they are there to support families who are struggling to care for their pets. Abandonment is not the answer, and for this reason, it is always best to contact a shelter for help. We wish the three kittens a speedy recovery and hope they soon find their forever homes.
