
LAHAD DATU: A man in his 40s is missing and feared to be a victim of crocodile attack while fishing on the beach of Kampung Makuau, here, on Friday.
The State Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call at 10.28pm via MERS999.
“A search and rescue (SAR) operation was activated at 9.34am today (Saturday), assisted by the police, the Wildlife Department and the Civil Defence Force,” said a spokesman.
District Police Chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad said police received information on the incident from the public at 10.28pm on Friday.

“According to the witness, he heard a scream for help from the beach and when he went out and pointed a light towards the beach, he saw an overturned boat and a crocodile wagging its tail.
“The SAR operation involves the police, Marine Police Force, Fire and Rescue Department, Wildlife Department and Civil Defence Force,” he added.
