
TAWAU: A 31-year-old man who went missing for seven days while fishing and foraging in the Mile 32, Kalabakan-Maliau Basin area was found safe on Tuesday morning.
Tawau Fire and Rescue chief Jemishin Ujin said Khairul Saharin was discovered by a General Operations Force (Platoon Tiger) team around 7.43am near a riverbank and was taken to the Kalabakan Health Clinic for treatment.
The six-day search and rescue operation, involving over 100 personnel from various agencies and villagers, was called off at 10.35am following his rescue.
Khairul was reported missing last Tuesday after being separated from his cousin while returning to their campsite.
He last communicated via WhatsApp before his phone battery died.
