
Kota Kinabalu: A 40-year-old e-hailing driver, charged with trafficking four underage girls for sex exploitation, will go trial on Sept 17 -18 this year.
Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim set the date for Wong Aik Yen, who maintained his plea of not guilty during his case management.
The court also set Sept 3 this year for another case management for Wong.
During the proceedings, the prosecution served all the relevant documents to the defence.
On the first to fourth counts, Wong is accused of trafficking the girls aged 15 and 10 months, 13 and seven months, 15 and six months and 16 and seven month for sex exploitation.
The alleged offence took place in different places at a residence in Imago, a wellness centre and a hotel here in March 2023, December 2024 and January this year.
The offence under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling Migrants Act 2007 carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping, on conviction.
Wong was ordered remanded further pending the disposal of his case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Dacia Jane Romanus appeared for the prosecution while Wong was represented by counsel Hanna Razaini.
