Man remanded 7 days over fatal axe attack on FELDA settler

A 41-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded for seven days to assist investigations into the alleged murder of a 68-year-old FELDA settler in an axe attack at FELDA Lok Heng Selatan in Kota Tinggi, on Monday.

Pengerang Sessions Court judge Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsudin ordered the remand from today until Nov 3 to allow police to conduct further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspect, dressed in an orange lock-up uniform, arrived at the court at about 9.45am, escorted by police officers from the Kota Tinggi district police headquarters.

Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said yesterday that the suspect was arrested at 10.26am in an oil palm plantation in Kota Tinggi.

Police received information at 7.56pm on Monday about a local man found lying by the roadside at FELDA Lok Heng Selatan, covered in blood.

Preliminary investigations found that the victim had injuries to his head and both arms.

Police also seized an axe and a motorcycle believed to be linked to the incident.

Checks found that the suspect had six previous criminal records involving criminal and drug-related offences. - October 28, 2026
