Man remanded for allegedly chasing wife with 62cm parang

A 42-YEAR-OLD plantation worker in Batu Pahat has been remanded for four days for allegedly threatening his wife and chasing her with a 62cm parang over suspicions that she was having an affair.

The remand order, which began today, was issued by Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman to allow police to conduct further investigations.

The incident reportedly occurred at a house in Sungai Kalong, Senggarang, at about 8.30am yesterday.

Police investigations found that the suspect allegedly took a 62cm parang and chased his 37-year-old wife while making threats that frightened her.

The incident was witnessed by the woman’s mother and the couple’s child before she lodged a police report.

Police arrested the suspect yesterday following the report to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. - October 19, 2026
