
KENINGAU: A 55-year-old man, who was reported lost in the forest area of Kampung Papar Baru Sook, safely returned to his home on Tuesday.
The victim was reported to have gone out walking in the forest of the village at 8pm on Monday and could not find his way out.
The Sook Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 10.52pm and an 11-member team, led by Operation Commander Ranizan Samirin, rushed to the village with machinery.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was carried out until the night and suspended at 12.44am.

Read more The Operation Commander said the SAR resumed on second day and a few minutes later the victim was reported to have returned home safely.
In TENOM, a non-permanent house was destroyed in a night fire on Tuesday at Kg Bamban, Tenom.
Tenom Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 11.55 pm and rushed a 12-member team led by the Operations Commander cum Station Chief, Mohd Zainal Sinsian, to the location about 23km away with machinery.
The firemen used a single 200-foot stream of two fountains using a water source from machinery to put out the fire. Operation ended at 2.02am.
