TACLOBAN CITY — Policemen launched a search and retrieval operation on Sunday after an unidentified man was reportedly seen falling from the San Juanico Bridge in Barangay 97 Cabalawan.
The incident was reported at 5:41 a.m. on September 13, 2026, when personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 805th Company conducting foot patrol at the bridge reportedly saw the man fall.
The man was described as being in his mid-20s, wearing a black sweatshirt and black shorts.
“Upon receipt of the report, Police Station 3 immediately responded to the said place to verify the report which yielded to be positive,” the police said.
Police Station 3 subsequently sought assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard, PNP Maritime Group, Bureau of Fire Protection and RMFB 8 personnel to conduct search and retrieval operations.
The BFP medical team and Tacloban City Rescue Unit were also requested to provide medical assistance as the search continued, police said.
