Four men detained after a 29-year-old was seriously injured in a sharp weapon attack near Taman West Country, Kajang. Case probed as attempted murder.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained four men to assist investigations into a man who was found seriously injured after being attacked with sharp weapons by the roadside near Taman West Country, Kajang early yesterday morning.
Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said a police report regarding the 29-year-old victim was lodged at 2.28 am and the victim is currently receiving treatment at Kajang Hospital.
“The victim is being treated for serious injuries believed to have been caused by an attack with sharp weapons by several individuals known to him.
“The Kajang District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Division launched an operation to track down the suspects and successfully detained four local male suspects aged between their 20s and 30s around Kajang yesterday and early this morning,” he said in a statement here today.
He said all the suspects had several criminal and drug-related records and had been remanded for four days until Wednesday (Sept 2) to assist investigations.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while carrying weapons or something that could be used as a weapon.
“Initial urine screening found that one of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, and the suspect is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for allegedly self-administering drugs,” he said.
He said further investigations were underway to establish the motive for the incident and trace other individuals linked to the case, as well as gather information related to the incident.
