Man shot dead in car was passenger, not driver, say Police

A 34-year-old man found dead with a gunshot wound to the head inside a car in Batu Kawa, Kuching, early Saturday morning was a passenger, not the driver, according to police.

Padawan District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed the victim had been travelling in a Perodua Myvi as a passenger, though did not disclose whether he was seated in the front or rear.

Earlier reports suggested the man was driving along Jalan Stephen Yong when he was shot. He was later found lying unresponsive inside the vehicle by two friends, who brought him to the Batu Kawa Police Station around 5.30am.

Medical personnel who arrived at the station confirmed he had died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - April 26, 2025
