Netizens were left shocked and alarmed after a video which has circulated on Instagram showed a man placing himself in harm’s way by sitting in the middle of the road in Singapore.

It also sparked widespread concern for the man’s wellbeing, with many speculating that he must be going through a rough patch in his life.

Man sits in the middle of road in foetal position

In the brief clip shared by sgfollowsall, it showed a man dressed in a t-shirt, shorts, and a pair of slippers sitting in the middle of the road while hugging his knees and placing his head in between.

The video, which was filmed onboard a bus, captured the sound of a honk being made towards the man by a passing vehicle.

However, he didn’t budge and remained seated in a foetal position in the middle of the road.

While the road remained largely clear of traffic, it still posed a risk to the man’s safety as he could be hit by an inattentive driver.

According to the caption, the incident was filmed last Sunday (Oct 27) at around 6pm along Jalan Buroh.

Netizens express concern

The clip has since alarmed netizens, who wondered what could have driven the man to put himself in imminent danger and were worried for his safety.

‘Nobody stopped to bring him to safety?’

‘Mental health is real. Not funny at all for those (who) think it’s a joke.’

On the other hand, some slammed the man for being selfish by putting drivers in danger by sitting in the middle of the road.

Disappeared when police arrived

8world News later reported that a witness lodged a police report regarding the incident.

However, the man was nowhere to be seen when police arrived at the scene.
