A 54-year-old man was found hanging inside his house while his 13-year-old son was found dead on a bed in the same room in northeast Delhi’s Chajjupur area on Saturday, the police said.
The deceased have been identified as Praveen Sharma, a resident of North Chajjupur, and his son.
The police said they received information regarding a suspected suicide at the Jyoti Nagar police station on Saturday morning. After getting information, a police team rushed to the spot.
Upon reaching the house, the police found Praveen hanging inside a room, an officer said. His son was found lying dead on a nearby bed in the same room, the police said.
Forensic experts were called to the scene and evidence was collected as part of the investigation. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the deaths.
The police said proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) had been initiated.
Investigators are examining the circumstances leading to the deaths. Further inquiry is underway, the police said.
