
RANAU: A local suffered burns on the shoulder while trying to put out a flame in his burning house here on Tuesday morning.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief, PPgB Ridwan bin Mohd Taib said, the victim, Simon bin Tiam, 43, suffered the burns while helping firefighters to extinguish the fire.
“We received an emergency call through the MERS999 at 8.38am and rushed a team of eight personnel led by myself, along with an FRT engine and an EMRS van to the location in Kampung Bongkud, Ranau.
“When we arrived at the scene, about 17km from the station, we found a non-permanent house with an area of 36X40 square feet that was 100 per cent burnt. A pickup truck also caught fire.
“There was a civilian who was slightly injured with burns on the shoulder while helping to put out the fire. The victim was treated by the EMRS team and refused to be sent to hospital,” he said.
