Man United post record revenues for 2025/26 despite European absence

  • Manchester United have disclosed an £8.5m compensation payout to Ruben Amorim following his dismissal in January after an ill-fated 14 months in charge of the club.
  • The overall severance cost was reduced from an initial maximum exposure figure of £16.7m because the Portuguese manager subsequently took over as head coach at AC Milan.
  • Amorim's severance package is roughly half of the amount paid to his predecessor Erik ten Hag following the Dutchman's departure in 2024.
  • The club posted record revenues of £677.6m for the 2025/26 financial year despite a lack of European football, while reducing their annual wage bill by 3.6 per cent to £302m.
  • Despite achieving record revenues, Manchester United reported an overall pre-tax loss of almost £47m, highlighting the requirement for ongoing financial discipline.
