Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim criticises his team’s lack of a killer instinct after they dropped points in a 1-1 draw with West Ham.

MANCHESTER: Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim criticised his side’s lack of a killer instinct after they drew 1-1 with West Ham United.

The result at Old Trafford on Thursday continued a frustrating trend of United failing to hold onto leads.

Amorim’s team sit eighth in the Premier League, just two points outside the top four.

They have recently failed to capitalise on leads against Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.

United also lost 1-0 at home to Everton despite playing against 10 men for almost the entire match.

“We should have closed the game with the ball because the game was there to win,” said Amorim.

“The game was under control. We knew it (we needed to) defend far from our box as any set-pieces can be a problem.”

Diogo Dalot opened the scoring for United just before the hour mark.

Soungoutou Magassa levelled for West Ham from a corner seven minutes from time.

“I think the overall performance was not perfect,” added Amorim.

“We had our moments but we lost control in the game in some minutes in the first half and in the second half, especially after the goal.”

The Portuguese manager described the outcome as “really frustrating”.

“You look at the game, you have the game under control and we didn’t win,” he concluded. – AFP
