Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is delighted with Alejandro Garnacho's contract.

The teenage winger penned a new deal to 2028 this week.

Ten Hag said this morning: "Alejandro shows he can make the final step. Not only a talent but also showed he can make it. Expectation and demands are higher now. He is a strong character and that's why he's there in the moment on this level and he did it by himself. There's more work to go, we expect more from him but it's great he made it. It tells that we will give young players opportunities, but they have to deserve it.

"They have to show it on the pitch, show it with their feet. Show it through training and performances in under-21s and wait for your moment. For Alejandro he has taken that step but the demands will be more now because he's competing for a starting XI position."

On whether he is fit to play on Thursday at Brighton: "He's had one training session but it's too soon for him to be available."
