And Ten Hag admitted: "It is a tool that you as a coach need to use sometimes. But it's all about timing. You have to know when to use it, there are many ways to communicate with your players. This is one way.
"Last Thursday after the match (3-0 loss against Sevilla) I was very angry. For me it is unacceptable, you can make mistakes, but you always have to get up. If you play in a quarter-final in Europe, you have to do everything and we didn't do that.
"As a coach I will never accept that and my players knew it."
