Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says Raphael Varane was rested for victory over West Ham.
Ten Hag brought in Harry Maguire for the game and was rewarded with a 3-0 win.
On the decision, he said pre-kickoff: "He (Maguire) played well in October, November and December, but then he got a little injury.
"We play the third game in a week and don't want to change too much, but we give Raphael Varane a rest.
"Varane has done well, but it's the third game in seven days, so we have to make small adjustments."
