Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was happy to be back for victory over Everton.

United were comfortable 2-0 winners on the day.

Maguire said, "Yeah it was a really good performance. Really on the front foot, aggressive. We played in their half and didn't let them breath. We should have been out of sight so it's disappointment that we only scored two goals.

"I think every game we want to start like this, we want to be on the front foot and be aggressive. The first half was perfect apart from being a bit more clinical. The manager wants us to be aggressive and dominate the game. In the second half we were professional and controlled the game.

"It's great to lead the lads out at Old Trafford and get a clean sheet and get three points. I have a responsibility to make sure the club moves forward and that's whether I'm playing or not. I feel like my form has been good for England and Manchester United.

"I respect and know that we have good competition in my position at this club. There's four top international centre-backs at this club and we are all pushing to be the best."

On the return of Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen, he added: "It's huge. I've spoken about the squad already. We need high competition for places. It's great to have Anthony back and Christian came on and really helped see the game out for us. It's a great boost for us to have them back and available for the crucial part of the season."
