The Englishman was the first choice right-back for boss Erik ten Hag at the start of the season.
However, he has been injured in recent weeks, with Diogo Dalot starting in his place.
The source adds that Wan-Bissaka is close friends with Jadon Sancho and flew to New York with the forward last month.
However, there is no suggestion that Ten Hag holds any grudge against Wan-Bissaka for this reason.
