Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez hopes to come back stronger after another injury setback.

The centre half has suffered his third serious injury in less than a year with the Red Devils.

Martinez has injured his knee, which will keep him out for at least eight weeks, according to the club.

Taking to Instagram, Martinez wrote: I want to give a heartfelt thanks for the great support I've received and to reassure you that I'll soon be back out there, and we'll fight together. Always united!"

"Lisandro Martinez has sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his knee and is expected to be out of action for at least eight weeks," United said in a statement.

The Red Devils next take on Aston Villa away from home in the Premier League on Sunday.
