Manchester United director John Murtough has stated the club's reasons for securing former Ajax star Lisandro Martinez.
The Argentine has signed for a mega fee from the Dutch giants, with United shelling out £46.8 million in guaranteed payments for the center-back.
Despite having several top stars in that position, Murtough and United believe Martinez can offer them a different dimension from the left-center-back spot.
"Lisandro is an outstanding player who will bring further quality and experience to Erik [Ten Hag]'s squad," Murtough said, per the club website.
"We are delighted that he has chosen to join Manchester United and we are looking forward to seeing him develop further and help the team achieve the success we are aiming for."
