DC United coach Wayne Rooney has no doubt Lisandro Martinez will make it at Manchester United.
Lisandro was hooked at halftime of defeat at Brentford last week.
But United great Rooney wrote for The Times: "If you put him at Manchester City, nobody would doubt Martínez at all.
"Fernandinho was sometimes a genius as a central defender at City and Javier Mascherano filled that role very well at Barcelona. And those two players are not very tall either.
"It's about playing in a team with the right way of playing.
"The faster Erik ten Hag manages to implement his structure and playing style at Manchester United, the easier it becomes for Martínez. He just needs a team that dominates in possession and dares to play high. Then he can use his qualities to read the game and his footballing qualities."
