Manchester United are in contact with former Liverpool director Julian Ward.
The Mirror says United want Ward to join incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth's team.
Ward is available after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.
He had only been sporting director for a year after succeeding Michael Edwards.
Ward oversaw several major signings at Liverpool, including Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister.
