Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has come to the defense of teammate Alejandro Garnacho.

The teenager forward is facing disciplinary action from the FA for using gorilla emojis in a social media post.

Garnacho, who deleted the post, appeared to use the emojis to refer to Onana and teammate Harry Maguire.

The latter had scored the only goal against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League in midweek, while Onana saved a last minute penalty to secure the points for United.

"People cannot choose what I should be offended by. I know exactly what [Garnacho] meant: power and strength," Onana wrote on Instagram.

"This matter should go no further."

Bernardo Silva and Edinson Cavani are previous examples of players who were banned for social media posts.
