Manchester United midfielder Fred says he's happy to play a defensive role for manager Erik ten Hag.

Fred faces a new position under Ten Hag with Christian Eriksen to join Bruno Fernandes in midfield.

He said, “Last season, (Ralf) Rangnick let me play a little higher, I had more freedom, I could go into the box, score and give assists. Let's see what requirements from me will be from ten Hag, maybe he wants me to go deeper into the field.

"I want to help my teammates, goals are not important to me.

"I am ready to carry the piano, if only the team would score and achieve results. The most important thing is to achieve our goals for the season."
