Manchester United are hoping to prevent Alejandro Garnacho from leaving for the Under-20 World Cup.
The Argentine youngster is a hot property in football and may even represent his nation's senior team in the near future.
However, the Albaceleste want him to be a part of their U20 World Cup campaign this late spring and early summer.
According to Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul, United are not keen to release Garnacho to U20 coach Javier Mascherano.
The tournament starts on May 20, which would cause Garnacho to miss the last two Premier League games of the season.
He would also miss the FA Cup and Europa League finals, should United reach those showpiece events.
