The Times says the decision has the approval of Ten Hag, who is now ready to pore everything into bringing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo to Old Trafford.
Caicedo is also a target for Chelsea.
However, there is a plan at United to buy Caicedo this summer and take Mount on a Bosman next year.
