TAWAU: An undocumented 22-year-old man (pic) fled from Tawau Hospital while receiving treatment after being involved in an accident on Sunday along Jalan Mawar, Kg Jawa, near here.

He was later apprehended by a police team from the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division in Kg Vietnam, Tanjung Batu, around 7pm on the same day.

Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});District Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin, said the police were informed about the incident by an Assistant Medical Officer at 2pm when the suspect escaped during the treatment process.

Earlier, the man, along with three female passengers, was taken to the Emergency Unit of the district hospital by the Fire Department after sustaining injuries in an accident at around 4.40 am.

Read more Jasmin said initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the man, driving a Proton Gen 2, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash.

“The man was transporting three teenage girls, aged 14 to 16, to Hill Top from Tawau town when he is believed to have lost control and crashed,” he said in a statement on Monday.
