Man who stored ‘highly inappropriate material’ on school email is banned from teaching

  • William Schaper, 49, has been banned from teaching indefinitely after storing and accessing pornography on his school device and work email account.
  • The former Eltham College Junior School teacher accessed inappropriate material on multiple occasions during school hours between 2018 and last year.
  • A misconduct panel heard that Schaper attempted to conceal his actions by manually deleting his browser history after seeking advice from an unidentified individual.
  • Despite Schaper claiming no pupils witnessed his behaviour, the panel ruled his conduct posed potential safeguarding risks and constituted serious professional misconduct.
  • He is barred from teaching in any school or youth facility in England, but can apply to set aside the prohibition order in September 2028.
