Man With 16 Criminal Records Died In Police Shootout

In a situation commonly seen in films or TV shows became a reality when a massive shootout with the police led to a criminal being shot dead at Jalan Bukit Berunting on Thursday evening.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the incident had occurred at 9:33pm when the suspect refused to come to a halt and began opening fire at the officers from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ)

He went on the state that the police soon returned several shots at the suspect, who was then confirmed to be dead at the scene.

"The suspect is a 36-year-old local man with 16 criminal and drug records" he mentioned in a statement on Friday.

The investigation is currently being conducted under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960.

He also urged that members of public who may have any other information regarding this incident to come forward to the police station for a statement or contact the Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters (IPD) immediately.
