- Andrew Franks has received a Pride of Britain Award for Outstanding Bravery after protecting worshippers at a Manchester synagogue from a terrorist attack.
- The 53-year-old security guard was stabbed three times by Jihad Al-Shamie during the attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur.
- Despite sustaining life-changing injuries, Mr Franks managed to trip the assailant and warn worshippers to lock the doors.
- Two victims, Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby, were killed during the attack before police shot Al-Shamie dead.
- Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson confirmed Mr Franks' bravery undoubtedly prevented mass murder.
