MANILA, Philippines — Transport group Manibela announced on Monday a two-day nationwide transport strike this week, citing rising fuel prices as the primary cause of their protest.
“In the coming Thursday and Friday, we will launch a nationwide transport strike,” said Mar Valbuena, spokesman for Manibela.
Valbuena added that the strike would include members of transport network vehicle services (TNVS), UV Express operators, truckers, and motorcycle taxi drivers.
The group warned that the strike could significantly disrupt public transportation and cargo delivery across the country, as drivers and operators unite to demand immediate relief measures against escalating petroleum costs.
Manibela has long campaigned for government intervention to address what it describes as “unsustainable fuel prices” affecting commuters and transport workers alike.
