
MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno announced the release of P688.9 million in city-funded allowances and benefits covering the months of April to June (2nd quarter) for different sectors.
On his Facebook Live on Tuesday, Moreno said the funds would cover three programs: P158,757,600 from funded ordinances for 40,250 beneficiaries to be released July 8 to 11; P452,353,500 in monetary allowances for 293,655 beneficiaries to be released July 22 to 24; and P77,790,000 in social pension from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for 25,930 senior citizens, also to be released July 22 to 24.
The funded programs cover police personnel, teachers, students, seniors, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and solo parents.
About 4,447 Manila Police District personnel will receive P2,500 per month from April to June, amounting to P33,305,000, while 358 Bureau of Fire Protection and 431 Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel will receive the same amount for the same time period.
Meanwhile, a total of 12,466 teachers will receive a P2,000 monthly incentive for April to June, with a total amount of P69,237,841.54.
About 5,524 Grade 12 students in Manila will receive P500 each, totaling P2,762,000 for June.
For the city’s two universities, over 9,155 Universidad de Manila students will receive P1,000 each for April and May, while 7,869 Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila students will receive the same amount.
For PWDs, 11,515 minor PWDs and 51,766 adult PWDs will each receive P500 per month for April to June.
About 17,281 solo parents will receive P500, with all releases scheduled for July 22 to 24.
The same amount will be given to the city's 212,553 senior citizens, and 25,930 of them who are registered with DSWD will receive an additional P1,000 per month for the same period from the national government's social pension program.
“We will strive always to spend the taxpayers' money entrusted to us by our fellow citizens in a prudent, judicious, and efficient manner,” Moreno assured the public.
