MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno on Wednesday said the second tranche of the government’s "Biyayang Bigas para sa Maynila" program has been rolled out.
“Since yesterday, the 2nd tranche of your 'Biyayang Bigas para sa Maynila' program in the City of Manila is now being delivered to everyone,” Moreno said in Filipino during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s rollout of the cash assistance to graduating students at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The program, launched in April, provides 10-kilogram sacks of rice to workers in Manila, including employees in malls, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments.
During the event, Moreno lauded the president for the scholarship program called “Bawat Bayan ay Makikinabang," which was designed to reach students who are close to finishing their degrees but are at risk of dropping out due to financial constraints.
The program provided P20,000 aid to each of the 4,426 graduating college students from the city’s six districts, bringing the total scholarship payout for the city to P88,520,000.
