Police in Manjung are investigating a murder after a man’s body was found in a river near Pantai Remis, with the victim suffering blunt force trauma to the head

IPOH: Police are investigating a murder after a man’s body was found in a river near Pantai Remis.

The body was discovered floating and decomposing in Sungai Jambatan Kampung Lubuk, Changkat Keruing last Thursday afternoon.

Manjung District Police Chief ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the public alerted police to the discovery at about 5.30pm.

“The victim was found wearing only a T-shirt. No identification documents were found on the body,” he said in a statement.

The fire department assisted in retrieving the body from the river.

A forensic officer from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital confirmed the cause of death was a head injury from a blunt object.

Hasbullah said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer ASP Mohd Azalan Ab Karim.
