- Comedian Russell Brand has been found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault following a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, whilst being cleared of two further rape charges and one attempted indecent assault.
- Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley revealed that Brand is under investigation for two additional alleged rapes, including one involving a 16-year-old schoolgirl, and stated he expects more victims to step forward.
- Sir Mark criticised assertions made by Brand's defence regarding victims not screaming or trying to leave, warning that such arguments border on victim blaming, and supported calls to instruct juries on rape misconceptions.
- The convictions relate to offences committed between 2004 and 2009 against several women, following a joint investigation published by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches in September 2023.
- Brand remains remanded in custody over the weekend and will return to Southwark Crown Court on Monday to receive his prison sentence from Mr Justice Bennathan.
