Mara chairman warns against falsifying income for MRSM admissions

MAJLIS Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki today warned against falsifying your income to be classified as B40 so that your children can be admitted into the Mara Junior Science University (MRSM).

He said such actions deny truly impoverished children the right to attend MRSM.

“Don’t falsify your income just to be categorised as B40 so that your child can be admitted to MRSM.

“Have pity on your children who are studying at the expense of other less fortunate people,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said the cost per student studying at MRSM is RM18,000 per year.

“The aim of establishing MRSM is to provide poor and rural students with quality education which is fully paid for by Mara.

“Mara’s policy stipulates that 60% of MRSM students must come from B40 families.

“Perhaps it is time for students from the T20 group who want to benefit from studying in the MRSM ecosystem to bear the full cost that Mara is now paying,” he added. – The Vibes, December 20, 2023
