MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in Kazan, Russia on Wednesday for a two-day working visit.
The aircraft carrying Marcos and the Philippine delegation landed at 7:53 a.m. local time (12:53 p.m. in Manila), Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said.
Marcos will participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean)-Russia Commemorative Summit and hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The visit marks Marcos’ first trip to Russia and comes 50 years after former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. visited the then-Soviet Union in 1976, a trip that led to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Manila and Moscow.
