MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is “back to normal” after being diagnosed with diverticulitis and spending a day in a hospital.
“Right now, the president is in a meeting. So, that's fake news,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said in Filipino in a press briefing, addressing reports that the President would undergo surgery.
Marcos had a meeting on Monday with the government’s Economic and Development Council.
Details of the meeting, along with photos, will be posted on the official social media accounts of Marcos and the PCO, Castro said.
The president was admitted at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City last January 22 due to “discomfort.”
He later shared that what he experienced is a condition where small pouches in the colon have become inflamed or infected, “a common complaint of people who are heavily stressed” or part of the older demographic.
