Marcos bares Bocaue elevated road project

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced a proposed P120-billion elevated road project linking Balintawak in Quezon City to Bocaue, Bulacan to improve traffic flow.

The president made the revelation during the opening of NLEX-C5 (North Luzon Expressway) Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A in Valenzuela City.

The opening of NLEX-C5 Northlink section will cut travel time along the route from 40 minutes to just five, allowing motorists to reach their destinations faster while saving on fuel.

Marcos described the P120-billion investment as good news for commuters since the elevated road would provide an alternative route alongside the existing highway.

The project also aims to cut travel time and transport costs, generate jobs, and spur economic development through expanded infrastructure investments.

“[We have] good news. The MVP Group will be making an investment worth P120 billion. They will build an elevated expressway from Balintawak to Bocaue. It will reach all the way to Bocaue,” the president said.

“And this is a very big deal because they will route it through NLEX-Meycauayan, where they will now build an elevated structure. This is the coming together of two groups, the MVP and SMC Group, joining forces,” Marcos said. “This is very good news for our continuing construction to improve the flow of traffic for us, speeding up and lowering transport costs, and making travel more comfortable for our workers,” he added.

The president said the MVP Group would undertake the project in coordination with the SMC Group, following his call for them to collaborate to expand the country’s road network, provide commuters with alternative routes, and improve travel conditions.

He welcomed the investment as another development in the administration’s continuing efforts to improve the country’s transportation system and reduce the time workers spend on the road. The president said NLEX management opened ahead of schedule to help motorists travel faster and more conveniently and ease traffic congestion.

This two-kilometer section of Segment 8.2 connects Quirino Highway in Quezon City to NLEX Mindanao Toll Plaza in Valenzuela City.

The new section is part of the government’s continuing efforts to improve the country’s road network, ease traffic congestion, and facilitate the movement of people and goods.

With the new section, motorists from Quirino Highway can now directly access the NLEX Connector for trips to Manila, the university belt, and nearby cities, offering an alternative route to EDSA.
