MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday welcomed former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to Malacañang, where the two discussed governance and public policy.
It was their fifth publicly known meeting since Marcos assumed office in 2022.
“It was a pleasure to welcome former UK Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair to Malacañan today,” the president said in a statement posted across his social media accounts.
“As one of Britain’s longest-serving Prime Ministers, he continues to contribute to global conversations on governance and public policy through the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change,” he added.
Blair again is in Manila as part of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change’s continuing engagement with the Philippine government.
The institute has been actively working with the Marcos administration on governance reforms, digital transformation, and improving public service delivery. It has likewise supported the Philippine government efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and policy implementation.
