MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. hosted the traditional Vin D’honneur for members of the diplomatic corps to mark the 128th year of Philippine Independence on Friday.
Marcos, together with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, led the reception at Malacañan Palace, sharing a traditional toast with the diplomatic community.
The event was attended by high-level government officials and diplomats, including Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Archbishop Charles John Brown.
The annual gathering reaffirms the nation’s shared aspirations and collective commitment to building a stronger future for generations of Filipinos, while strengthening partnerships with the international community, Malacañang said.
Vin d'honneur is a tradition derived from the French term meaning "wine of honor," that has evolved into a prestigious occasion in the Philippines observed biannually, commemorating both the New Year and the anniversary of Philippine Independence.
