MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday welcomed the dismissal of the impeachment complaints against him, describing the move as mere “distractions” and “a political move.”

Speaking to reporters, Marcos said the impeachment complaints filed against him did not prosper because “there were no real grounds.”

"The House is doing their job. Of course, I’m glad that impeachment complaints against me have been finished. And as the statement that we made earlier. I’m happy and we can get on with our work you know because these things are distractions from the things that we are doing," Marcos said in a chance interview.

"Although I wasn’t very worried because I saw the impeachment complaint and I knew that I will be all right kasi wala naman (because), there were no real grounds for the impeachment. It was a political move, as usual," he added.

Meanwhile, Marcos distanced himself from the filing of fresh impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte before the House of Representatives.
