MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday visited The Medical City in Pasig City to inspect the implementation of expanded benefits from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) meant to give Filipinos more access to quality healthcare.
This includes the expanded maternity care package and outpatient emergency care benefits.
Another initiative is the new PhilHealth Ward, a facility within the hospital which offers lower-cost confinement services for eligible patients.
Also called the Alfredo R.A. Bengzon Patient Access Ward, it charges P1,500 per stay, lower than regular rooms that may cost up to P5,000.
The ward features a total of 51 beds, including two isolation rooms designed to support safe and efficient patient care. It also includes nine mother and baby-friendly rooms, a tribute to the late Department of Health (DOH) secretary’s championing of the Philippine Milk Code, providing a nurturing environment for mothers and newborns.
It was inaugurated last April.
