Marcos mourns passing of Aide-de-camp

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday expressed his grief for the passing of his former aide-de-camp, Maj. Ma. Joshua Santiago.

In a Facebook post, Marcos described Santiago as an officer he could depend on.

“We mourn the passing of Maj. Ma. Joshua P. Santiago, a brave soldier who fought for our country with dedication and honor,” said Marcos.

“In the time he stood by my side as my aide-de-camp, I came to know a soldier of courage, an officer I could depend on and, above all, a good man,” the president added.

The president also said his prayers are with Santiago's family and fellow soldiers.

“Fair winds and following seas, Jam. It was my privilege to have you by my side,” he concluded.

Marcos visited Santiago’s wake at the Libangan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on Thursday to personally express his sympathies to his family.

According to Santiago’s wife, Ma Argeline, in a Facebook post, the soldier died on Monday. He was 39.
