Marcos mulls removal of 'systems loss' in electric bills to ease consumers' woes

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. pushed for the immediate passage of the Sariling Kuryente Act and the removal of the systems loss in electric bills to help consumers.

"In order to help the Filipinos who are installing their own solar systems, I am asking Congress for the immediate passage of the 'Sariling Kuryente Act,'" Marcos said.

"With the current status of electricity bills and also as a result of the crisis in the Middle East, it is high time for the abolition of the 'systems loss' component of the electricity bill. It is not consumer's fault so why should they pay for this. Furthermore, we should also look at revisiting the EPIRA Law as well in order to look at the current power environment," he added.
