MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed lawyer Melvin Matibag as the new head of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Malacañang announced Thursday.

Matibag, who will replace acting NBI Director Angelito Magno, was a previous ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
