Marcos on Bonoan as state witness: Up to Ombudsman

VANCOUVER, Canada — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) said it is up to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla to deciden if former Public Works secretary Manuel Bonoan should be turned into a state witness in the investigation of anomalous flood control projects.

Speaking to members of the Philippine media before leaving Canada, Marcos said the Executive branch will not interfere in the Ombudsman's evaluation of the matter.

"It's up to the Ombudsman to decide on how to proceed with all of these investigations and if he feels that former secretary Manny Bonoan will be helpful to the cases it is his prerogative," Marcos said,

"It is his decision, it is his judgment to make and I have complete faith in the Ombudsman and what he's doing," he added.
