MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. paid tribute to his father, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., as he reflected on the values and lessons he learned which continue to guide him in public service.
In a social media post for Father’s Day, the president said he remains grateful for his father’s teachings on duty, perseverance, and selfless service.
“No matter how much time passes, there are some lessons a son never outgrows. My father taught me the value of duty, the importance of perseverance and the conviction that our lives are measured by what we give of ourselves in service to others,” he said on Sunday.
“For those lessons and for his love, I remain deeply grateful,” he added.
The post was accompanied by a collage of family photographs showing the chief executive with his father, along with the message, “Happy Father’s Day.”
Marcos also extended his tribute to fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures, recognizing their love, sacrifice, and guidance in shaping their children’s lives and their contributions to nation building.
“On this Father’s Day, I honor not only my father but all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and father figures whose love, sacrifice and presence help shape the lives of their children and the future of our nation,” he said.
